Saturday’s forecast from KXAS-TV shows a high of 102 degrees, and the heat index could reach 110. There’s a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m. and after 4 p.m. into the night.
Sunday should be cooler, with a high of 96 and a chance of rain. Low temperatures both days will be in the high 70s.But high temperatures are expected to rise once again in the triple digits, peaking at 106 on Tuesday, according to NBC5. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas has issued a weather watch for Sunday through Tuesday because of “forecasted higher temperatures, anticipated higher electrical demand and the potential for lower reserves.”
ERCOT has said it expects sufficient generation to meet demand this week as it has dealt with soaring demand. ERCOT forecasts show demand peaking at more than 82,000 megawatts Saturday, more than 84,000 megawatts Monday and more than 85,000 megawatts Tuesday.With high temperatures continuing next week, the threat for wildfires will be elevated each day, particularly west of I-35, the weather service said.The summer heat will continue next week with high temperatures in the triple digits.
