Despite following a teenage girl as she attends a brand-new high school, Netflix's Wednesday twists classic high school tropes to create a mysterious and dangerous world that goes beyond audience expectations. Wednesday follows Wednesday Addams as she transfers to her parents' alma mater, Nevermore Academy, and finds plenty of creepy mysteries to be solved. The series, produced by Netflix and starring Jenna Ortega, has one season and a second confirmed.
9 High School Cliques Like any on-screen high school, Nevermore Academy has plenty of cliques. However, these social groups are not like the nerds and jocks of a normal school. Instead, Wednesday's roommate Enid describes them as the Fangs, the Furs, and the Stoners: vampires, werewolves, and gorgons respectively. Furthermore, Nevermore includes Outcast species like psychics and shapeshifters.
6 Parents Weekend When a high school student has their parents visit for parent's weekend, the last thing they expect is a murder investigation. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happens when Wednesday's Gomez and Morticia Addams come to visit. Within minutes of the couple's arrival, Gomez is arrested for a murder that occurred decades ago and Wednesday must spend parents weekend exonerating her father.
3 High School Clubs It's not uncommon for high schools real and fictional to have clubs, from AV club to the book club. Unsurprisingly, Wednesday goes beyond those classic groups and instead introduces Nevermore's secret society, the Nightshades. Like a normal high school club, the Nightshades meet for a shared cause, however, rather than reading the same book or running the school play, this club has the goal to bring peace to Outcasts by fighting against injustice.
