One Frasier stat explains their relationship.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The fact that Freddy is no fan of Frasier’s eponymous antihero is handily explained by one surprising statistic about the sitcom. Frasier was far from perfect. While the character could be arrogant and self-centered in his original Cheers incarnation, these flaws were arguably worse in his own show. Since Frasier’s spinoff centered around his misadventures, the show gave its title character nowhere to hide.

This is part of why Frasier’s son Freddy having issues with his father stood out. It is not yet clear how big of a role Freddy will play in Frasier’s upcoming reboot, but in the original run of the show, Freddy was a minor presence. He was Frasier’s son with Lilith, and he shared some of his father’s personality traits — most notably, his precocious intelligence.

Freddy's Frasier Absence Explains Why He "Hates" Him In the latest trailer for the revival, Freddy plays a major role. In a twist that will likely set up the Frasier reboot’s Lilith return, Freddy is estranged from Frasier and surprised to find his father suddenly appearing on his doorstep after a lengthy stretch of limited contact.

While Freddy himself finds interacting with his father stiff and awkward in the reboot trailer, it is Frasier’s friend Alan who points out that his son might reasonably hate his father. Freddy doesn’t say as much himself, but it would be understandable if he felt his way. If Frasier only existed in the world of Cheers, it would make sense for viewers to never see what Freddy was doing.

Was Frasier A Bad Father? It is tough to tell whether Frasier was a bad father when so much of Freddy’s parenting took place off-screen. This, in and of itself, could be a reflection of Frasier’s attitude toward fatherhood. The fact that Freddy played such a small role in the original show does seem to imply that Frasier didn’t think of him often and wasn’t concerned with his development. However, Freddy’s Frasier reboot fate proves that his life turned out fine.
