One person died when a driver went off the edge of the parking lot of Pescadero State Beach, CHP said.
One person died when a driver went off the edge of a parking lot at Pescadero State Beach, about 35 miles south of San Francisco, and landed in the water Thursday night, officials said. CHP Officer Sophie Lu said the fatal crash occurred at about 10 p.m. A driver and two passengers were in an SUV, Lu said. She could not provide details on the deceased and said the other two individuals had moderate injuries. No other vehicles were involved.
The parking lot sits about 100 feet above the ocean, Lu said. “It’s not a big cliff,” she said. “The car didn’t go entirely into the water.” The crash is under investigation. This breaking news story has been updated.
